Following the season opener for the BMW M Racing Academy, Thomas Rackl moved straight on to the next crucial step in his preparations for the season: the pre-season test with his team, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport.
From 9 to 12 March, the team undertook an exclusive four-day test at Istanbul Park in Istanbul. The former Formula 1 circuit was reserved entirely for the team during this period, providing ideal conditions for intensive testing.
For Rackl and the team, the main focus was on gaining a deeper understanding of the car and fine-tuning it to perfection. Over the course of several days, they were able to clock up numerous kilometres and test various setups. At the same time, the test provided an important opportunity to further strengthen teamwork within the squad.
“We have a very good rapport within the team and were able to work very productively in Istanbul,” said Rackl after the training camp. He added that it is normal, especially at the start of a new season, for a team to need a certain settling-in period – but that they had now come through this successfully.
Armed with the insights gained from the test, Rackl is now looking forward with confidence to the start of the season in early April at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, where the first race weekend of the season is due to take place.
